Never been a big fan of that band...and also the new album sounds pretty boring to me.

This album is really fucking good. Greece really is the epicentre of great black metal nowadays

I'm a bit dissapointed. The Album is not bad but there is no "outburst" in the songs. It all sounds like it is a build-up to a very aggressive and heavy part. But that part never comes.

So yeah...its more like Black Metal you turn on when you're in half-sleep. Thenthe atmosphere draws you good in. But if you wanna listen total war and fast aggressive riffs...this album is not for you. This is a very calm album without any real heights or lows in the song structure department. Which is fine..but it's for a special mood.

Not bad but nothing amazing either. I actually think this band is a bit overrated. Sure Henbane was great, but all people act like they are so fucking special.
I think they have a great Potential unused. If they get really sinister and aggressive they are at their best. But a lot of times i can sense repetitive filler Riffs. But as i said it's not bad. In general a good Album so far and good Band.

I hated everything from Immortal after Blizzard Beasts. I think it's good that Abbath left the band. The new CD is better than everything that came after Blizzard Beasts but it's still not "good" in a way that i would listen to it more often. It's just so simple...the guitars and melodies do not have any deeper sense behind them. You can't "explore" the music. The voice is good though.

Incredible Album. Always had a bit of a problem with their previous albums. I liked them but i thought the song writing was not good enough to be top tier.
But here... it's really good! Like they finally found their identity!

New album is boring as fuck...it has nothing that stands out. Serpent Sermon was great, Frontschwein was "so so" and Viktoria is just....well it's just Marduk reduced to the most simplest elements. At the same time it's not very brutal, not very fast, not melodic...just simple boring and short. Very uncreative and powerless.

In general i like those middleeastern influenced folk Metal Bands. I'm just wondering why there always has to be Death Metal a part of it. I really wish there would be more pure Black Metal bands using these kind of folk. Like imagine a band like Kampfar or Windir, but with egyptian or mesopotamian melodies. And i do not count "Al-Namrood" cause they just suck.

What i really miss im this record is the dark atmosphere.
To me most riffs here are just plain boring and without any atmosphere at all. And i liked the first Album good enough.

Typically one hit Album wonder for me.

To be honest i think Cradle of Filth is a better Band at this point. I don't know how many of you have heard new Cradle of Filth Albums but the last two were decent Thrash/NWOBHM Metal with (intelligen but cheesy) keyboard passages (for example the song "Enshrined in Crematoria"). Where as Dimmu now...they sound like just bad Symphonic Metal (to me), and the tremolo picking riffs (which are very few) are incredible basic. It's like they "want" but can't...and Cradle of Filth actually sound like they know what they're doing now. Much more well rounded Songs and albums.

What i noticed is that the melodies on this album are way to "happy". The Choir sounds like Nightwish Stuff, not dark or sinister at all. I really don't like that.
People callDimmu Borgir still "Symphonic Black Metal" in their Reviews on the Internet, but there is a HUUUUGE difference between Symphonic Black Metal and Symphonic Metal (which Dimmu is the ladder). Symphonic Black Metal is something like Limbonic Art's "Moon in the Scorpio".
