Spain might not be known as a hotbed for pagan black metal, but Galician quartet Lóstregos may well change that with their debut full-length Lendas Baixo o Luar. Audacious in scope and flawlessly executed, it sees the band playing with a much wider palette of musical colors than on their well-received 2016 EP Alzamento no Norte. As a result, Lendas Baixo o Luar improves on that record in almost every way: the songwriting is more ambitious, the arrangements are more expansive, and unexpected elements abound throughout the album’s five track, 42-minute run time.


Five long hymns of Pagan Black Metal, primal and intense in the way of the old gods Bathory, Windir or Thyrfing, but adding at his sound high doses of the early Heavy scene from the eighties like the greats Running Wild and Iron Maiden... and of course, including the traditional influence of the ancestral Gallaecian lands.
