Release Date: February 17th, 2009

Southern Lord will proudly release the vinyl only version of the new Wolves In
The Throne Room EP entitled Malevolent Grain, featuring two brand new tracks
from the Pacific Northwest organic black metallers. Conspiracy Records will
offer a limited edition picture disc of the 12" for Europe, while Southern Lord
will release a black 180-gram version worldwide.

Recorded to 2-inch tape by Randall Dunn and Mell Dettmer in Seattle during the
winter months of 2008.

Brand new vinyl only EP release from the grimm Cascadia black
metal horde: Wolves In The Throne Room. 2 brand new songs (1
per side) that further solidify their death like grip on the
jewel throne of American Black Metal. As with their mind
blowing debut: Diadem of 12 Stars, Jamie Meyers (Hammers of
Misfortune) lends her beautiful voice to the track on Side A
"A Looming Resonance". The Malevolent Grain EP is the first to
feature their new guitar player Will Lindsay (formerly of
Middian ) who had been the band's touring bass player. The
sound of this new recording blazes down similar paths as their
past albums but seems to have even more depth and darkness
than before. The three members of Wolves in the Throne Room
have recently finished recording their 3rd studio album
entitled Black Cascade which will be released by Southern Lord
on 23rd March

ну что, послушал таки

второй трек очень ровный, с традиционным для этой команды структурой и саундом. это именно то, чего так не хватает, когда послушаешь друг за другом все их демки и альбомы -- еще таких треков!!!

но вот первый трек -- это тоталворшип. поставить тетку на вокал -- это очень в духе Wolves in the Throne Room. все "труЪ энд ивел блакцмитолисты" их будут ненавидеть еще больше, а для тех, для кого музыка важнее всего остального -- продожение банкета.
к тому же сам по себе трек дико цепляющий. новый the cleansing, не меньше.

ушел в повторное переслушивание, далеко на сегодня не последнее

listened: it's not just a BM, it's a splendind musical composition at first. didn't enjoyed female vocals as leading ones in first track, really. imo it would be better to leave it as a back one or merely for refrening. But the second track is that for what I love this band __ calm and sad, yet hateful and somehow... somehow wise, I'd say.
If the whole album will like this EP, I'll not feel myself lonely for quite a long time.

Да, подтверждаю, материал отличный. Новшество - женский вокал в первом трэке, всё остальное в духе предыдущих записей.
Пожалуй единствеННая (почти) еврейская группа, музыка которой мне очень нравится.

До второго трека я так и не добрался пока, а вот первый правда классный, хотя вокал мне ничуть не показался готичным - приятный такой распев, без пафоса. Она и под акустику могла бы так спеть, потому контраст впечатляющий получился. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif)
