Классный альбом. Хоть группа значительно снизила планку поклонения БС, и приобрела туманно-замедленный оттенок, на итоговом качестве музыки это никак не сказалось - все сделано крайне темно и качественно. Риффовые проходы качают, вокал звенит, атмосфера укачивает...

Достойные американцы дело делают - ни одного провала за карьеру. Восхитительная музыка.

Of course the other links you provided are right my friend. I'm just talking about the first Rusfolder link you gave, i.e. the Mediaboom one. Калифорнийский Orchid - молодая группа, ориентирующаяся на (фигурально выражаясь) всё то хорошее, что было в ретро-думовом сегменте музыки 70-х, или, говоря иначе, взявшая курс на материал в духе лучших времён Black Sabbath и Pentagram. С первыми - живыми классиками, коллективом в составе Айомми/Батлер/Озборн/Уорд - Орхидею сравнивают наиболее часто. Естественно, не по уровню, но по манере и эстетике. Ну что ж, не самый плохой образец для подражания выбрали себе ребята. И в таком духе ими записано уже три мини-альбома и два полноформатника, The Mouths Of Madness - последний из них. Почти часовой по своей продолжительности релиз оставляет приятное впечатление - он не столь тяжёл и не слишком мрачен, скорее, наоборот, довольно живой и энергичный, с большим тяготением в стоунер, нежели в дум. Один из самых главных элементов подобной музыки - сочетание несколько нечёткой ритм-гитары и, наоборот, отточенной и активной соло-гитары - здесь соблюдён вполне основательно. Думовитый (по рифажному рисунку и оттенку звучания) стоунер-ритм и зачастую психоделического характера соло - тоже. Равно, как и практически обязательный для жанра харизматический и стильный голос фронтмена. Звонкий вокал Тео Минделла - визитная карточка Orchid, он берёт своей харизматичностью, имея, кстати говоря, немало общего с другими известными голосами классической металл-сцены, например, с Блэки Лоулессом. Тембром Оззи Минделла, естественно, не обладает, но если говорить именно о манере пения, то интонации Озборна так же вполне можно уловить. Материал, в целом, достаточно ровный, в качестве же отдельных особо красочных представителей альбома могу отметить открывающий трек Mouths Of Madness с его ведущим рифом, сделанный с большой фантазией Silent One, а также запоминающийся и выразительный Wizard Of War, шибающий ароматом сэббэтовости. Если бы меня спросили, какой из элементов The Mouths Of Madness я считаю главным минусом, то ответил бы парадоксально, назвав таковым... его главный плюс - вокал Минделлы (!), поскольку последний "вредит" общему делу тем, что своей харизматичностью оттягивает внимание непосредственно от музыки. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif) Ну да ладно, это, скорее, больше шутка, нежели правда. Альбом, действительно, качественный, и к этому, по большому счёту, нечего добавить. 8/10
