Самобытный немецкий коллектив Mangled Torsos и его первый полноформат Drawings Of The Dead явили истинно интересный синтез брутальности и лиричности. Очевидно, было у них свое видение музыки, неторопливый, местами даже медленный Death Metal, наполненный аурой зловещей мистики. Все тоже самое можно было бы сыграть в 2 раза быстрее и эффект был бы совсем иной. Здесь же ассоциативно - этакая медленная мучительная пытка, навязчивый кошмарный сон, предвещающий неминуемую гибель, или погребение заживо. Альбом получился по хорошему странным, больным, нагнетают лихо, но при этом обвинить в похожести на кого-то просто нельзя (разве что под конец вокальная манера напоминает Carcass, а основная вокальная линия чем-то отдает Demilich - но Mangled Torsos все равно остаются собой). Эх, девяностые!

Когда-то во времена Сатурналий или дэт голосовалки, не суть, слушал я и не проникся этой группой. Видимо, пытался взять с наскока. Сейчас вот, в наушниках, обстоятельно послушал - уух, просто сочный альбом! Сразу бросается в уши вокал - глубокий утробный гроул, просто услада. Барабанщик отстукивает интересные партии, за его игрой очень интересно следить. Плюс барабаны отлично прописаны, что вкупе с вокалом придаёт объёмность и мощность музыкальному полотну. Периодически брутальный каток притормаживает, и мы можем немного расслабиться под красивые акустические переливы, чтобы потом снова попасть под каток. Всё гармонично. Проходных номеров не обнаружено. Отличный классический альбом из тех времён. Я очень доволен, что к нему вернулся.
