Darkthrone «Old Star» (2019) Peaceville Records 8/10 (STAY HEAVY magazine)
18-й альбом от культового дуэта музыкально и тематически вполне ожидаем, ибо Фенриз с компаньоном выдали опять душещипательный олдскульный black metal, который, тем не менее, на этом альбоме немного ушёл от black’n’roll и элементов crust периода «F.O.A.D.» и обратился ещё глубже к каноничным «блэковым» корням, но даже не своим (вроде «A Blaze in the Northern Sky»), а куда более ранним – Celtic Frost/Hellhammer. Эти классические 6 композиций в стиле heavy/black не менее мрачные и медитативные, почти все среднетемповые и тяжёлые по звуку, очень мощные и интенсивные, иногда просто до болевых ощущений (хорошо, что общая протяжённость диска всего 38 минут). Вещи длинные (6-7 минут), не совсем понятно, зачем, ведь отходов от основной мелодической линии почти (и реальных гитарных соляков не так много), хотя это частично компенсируется вариациями темпа от скоростного до почти «думового». Вокал хорошо артикулирован и, хотя Фенриз посвятил этот альбом умершему от рака товарищу – вокалисту Omen Джону Кимболу, временами почему-то напоминает скорее Йохана Эдлунда с ранних релизов Tiamat. Но круче всего здесь прописаны ударные, и недаром, их партии на «Old Star» просто рулят. Да и общее впечатление сильное, так и хочется сказать, что эта музыка переливается через субъективную призму в состояние души и неподдельные эмоции настоящего металхэда. Вот уж к кому точно можно приклеить ярлык «TRUE»! Пусть в основе музыки – святая простота риффов, а затянутость композиций – налицо, но в целом новые песни несут в себе необузданный заряд проникновенности и честности, которые Фенриз упорно тащит с собой через всю свою рок-н-рольную жизнь… Можете быть уверены, что эта простота кажущаяся, за ней стоит неслабая работа над материалом, сочинением «правильных» риффов, созданием нужного звука, манерных текстов, наконец стилизованной под содержание альбома обложки диска – всё здесь чётко продумывается. Стоит выделить лучшую, на наш взгляд, немного «приdoomленную» композицию – «Hardship of the Scots», она – просто бальзам для души. Ещё один крутой номер – «Duke of Gloat», основные риффы для которой придумал Nocturno Culto: это типичный, классический black metal. Что ж, твёрдую 8 норвежцы заслужили – как минимум, за верность традициям и музыкальное долголетие. Их «Старая Звезда» вновь ярко горит холодным пламенем и сияет для истинных приверженцев black metal. |
