Кстати они вообще мелкие были тогда, лет по 19, и такой шедевр... Я когда в 97-м году их кассету взял в «Железке», думал (по содержанию), что это уже взрослые мужики играют. Помню, долго не мог выбрать тогда, какой взять для ознакомления, 95-й или всё-таки 97-й, новый, The Pagan Prosperity. Как хорошо, что взял этот (из-за того, что он дольше). Если бы взял The Pagan Prosperity, не думаю, что стал бы покупать остальные альбомы, и подлинный восторг от 95-го тогда откладывался на неопределённое время. Во всяком случае, до появления этого сайта. Нет, In defiance... хороший альбом, и Vermin неплохой, но такого альбома, как этот, им, скорее всего, уже не повторить (только бы я ошибся!).

Дебютный полноформат Галдера и Ко (на этом альбоме команда была вполне полноценной, второй гитарист Jardar даже в сочинении двух треков поучаствовал) оказался весьма убедительным. Во-первых, гитарная работа на этом альбоме на голову выше почти всего, что предлагала на тот момент (1996 год) норвежская бм сцена. Причем не столько в плане сложности сыгранных здесь партий (они как раз довольно простые), сколько в плане аранжировок этих самых партий. В каждую композицию запихнули довольно большое число различных ходов, плавно переходящих друг в друга, причем многие из них содержат цепляющие мелодии. Также на альбоме очень красивые гитарные соло. Во-вторых, широта используемого инструментария, как для дебютировавших музыкантов, действительно производит впечатление: тут и потусторонние мерно поющие мужские вокалы, и гостевой женский вокал (основной вокал - само собой, блэковый скрим мастермайнда группы Галдера), и шикарное использование акустической гитары (в составе указан приглашённый музыкант) и клавиш. В итоге получился очень атмосферный, мистичный и какой-то потусторонний альбом. Которому был бы крайне полезен хороший ремастеринг, ибо звук недостаточно чистый (особенно странно прописан бас), кроме того - ОЧЕНЬ тихий. В метро в наушниках послушать, скорее всего, не получится.
