Обнадёживающий трек, я думал, будет либо жёсткий новый курс без чистого вокала, либо вообще лажа какая-нибудь. Ан нет, понятно, что стиль совершенно изменился, но мне нравится. И вокалы радуют, и электроника не забыта.

There's of course a lot of obvious (and indeed slightly cheesy) self-referential symbolism regarding the rebirth of the band in the cover artwork. But apart from that we felt that the motive of a phoenix was a really fitting expression of many of Renй's lyrical themes on the album, as they deal with personal and existential crisis, overcoming personal obstacles and how we can sometimes redefine ourselves in the proces of taking responsibility for altering the conditions of our very lives. This idea of personal freedom can be a very frightening thought for some, but it's actually a message of hope and optimism - we can always take control of our lives and free ourselves of inner or outer constraints, or at least take pride in the struggle to do so.

(Okay, dropping all the intellectual pretense, we just liked the artwork because it was freaking bird on fire - how cool is that!?)

On a serious note, though, we also felt that a simple, raw and iconic visual theme would support the musical direction of the new album. We feel that the songs are our strongest ever, they're no-bullshit, focused and straight to the point, and our good friend Don G really nailed these concepts with his artwork.

Finally, we have also been searching for a new logo for many years (also before the recent changes in line-up) but we never felt that we found a good enough alternative until now. With the direction of the new line-up and the new album, we not only felt that we had as good an occasion as any, but we also really liked the idea of a less polished, more raw logo which could reflect the changes in musical expression.

2006, по-моему, просто шедевральная работа, а 2008 - ее жалкая попсовая тень. Но новый альбом тоже жду с огромными ожиданиями. Кстати, группа из Миккеля, гитариста Nevermore и кого-то там еще так даже и название не опубликовали? Уже пора бы о себе заявить, если собирались что-нибудь делать вместе

Н-р: эмоции, надрыв, трагедия, глубокая тоска, отчаяние, разочарование, осознание полного бессилия. Масса негативных и очень понятных переживаний, да ещё поданных так, что самого в клочья рвёт. В этом плане они нисколько не поменялись, за это и люблю. А хитов у них всегда было всего 3-4 на альбом (зато каких шикарных!) Выкидывать остальное я не посмею.

Один из лучших треков альбома, Death Connection, записан с перекосом звука в каналах вправо (IMG:style_emoticons/default/12.gif) Вот что они там в студии, глухие были?

А вообще сейчас слышно, что даже при всей своей опупенной мелодичности альбом очень сильно завален типовой однотонной ж-ж-ж риффовкой, что, собственно, относится ко всему позднему творчеству группы, наверное. Вроде слушать особо не мешает, ибо уже привычно для них, но факт остаётся.

Всяко лучше двух последующих (хотя, до монолитов 2004-2006 гг., наверное, не дотянет), нет такого уклона в металкор и Миккель все же поет в разы убедительнее (а, главное, эмоциональнее), чем Рене, клавишные его брата тоже добавляют очарования. Группа после ухода Сандагеров оказалась, по сути, не нужна. А этот альбом в год выхода очень даже зашел.
