I still consider this to be the best album from the band.
I stopped listening to them after Death Cult Armageddon - which wasn't a bad album and even the Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is pretty good. But that work is so much different from For All Tid, it's like a different band. The album is something I hold in my heart and keep coming back to as years pass, because it has such gloomy atmosphere. It is dark, melodic, relaxing, symphonic in the best way, it's very unique album. It almost seems insane how a band that used to make such true Black turned into something so different, sad and passionless. This album was/is full of passion, very emotional and sincere, unlike their later work which was obviously influenced - not by darkness - but by money. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/true_black.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/fear.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/true_black.gif) Agree. Dimmu Borgir used to sound very dark, cold, majestic, inspiring. With such Symphonic Black Metal they were closer to Emperor and Gehenna ''First Spell''. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/true_black.gif) This album still reminds about good old times of 90s Norwegian Black Metal. When Dimmu Borgir was unique, not a plastic band driven by commercialism. For me 1997 is the end of this band. I'm not into stuff after Enthrone Darkness Triumphant... |
