Надо будет канеш переслушать, помню, проникся уважением к этому альбому.
Но какая бы там музыка не была, Дэни уже давно не выдает полюбившихся мне истерических визгов, и энергичного грудного речетатива (как пример - Lord Abortion).
А потому(НМВ), после Damnation филсы - бледная мышь былого величия. И почему-то, мне кажется, что он могет, но не хочет уже петь в такой агрессивной манере.
Мож кто-то любит группу за готишность, но мне импонировала их экстремальная сторона, что бы кто не говорил про клоунов, камеди, девушек-подростков и т.д.

Да, на некоторых альбомах бывает песня-недоразумение. Помню, плевался и перематывал всегда Quiet Place с инфлемсовского "Soundtrack..." , бормоча про себя - "не, ну че за петушня..."

От себя (что периодически переслушиваю) -
Tearing veil from Grace + Tortured soul asylum - крайне сильно и трагично.
Principle of evil made flesh + Summer dying fast (римейки), чумовой вокал.
From the cradle to enslave - знаковая для меня песня, как enter sandman.
Queen of winter + Hosannas in extremes. впечатлили в свое время эпичностью и звериной злобой.
Presents from the poison-hearted + Doberman pharaon - зловеще-таинственные.

Про другое -
Principle - относился к нему всегда с неким трепетом. Как к старому квесту с пиксельной графикой.
Dusk - подзабыл, но помню, все там здорово - саунд, атмосфера, истерия.
Cruelty - раздражал всем, звучало как "злые частушки", но слушал не так много, надо дать еще шанс.
Nimphetamine - уже не то, но еще не совсем, да и разнообразием подкупает.
Про сабж уже сказал, торнография - вообще никак, даркливинус - резко не понравился, мантикора - так-сяк, но лучше не сравнивать со старым. А дебютник Devilment с Дэни на вокале неожиданно доставил.

Альбом действительно возвращает в до-Нифетаминовые времена и это хорошо. Только слишком большая продолжительность ну никак не идет на пользу релизу. Лучшие песни на диске: Tragic Kingdom, Sweetest Maleficia, Honey and Sulphur, Midnight Shadows Crawl to Darken Counsel with Life, Darkness Incarnate и бонус Balsamic and Anathema.

Ничего другого, кроме как "сойдёт" про альбом по прошествии времени сказать не получается. Раньше он брал атмосферой, достигаемой за счёт прямолинейной (зачастую излишне) подачи, а также аккуратно разбросанными по альбому едва ощутимыми, но точными выстрелами "капающих" клавиш (полноценный клавишник в составе альбома не числился, а вечно сессионный на тот момент Ньюби-Робсон только так и может. На сабже, кстати, единственный раз, когда он поработал на славу, а не на забвение). Теперь берёт лишь отдельными (редкими) треками. Всю возможную мелодику отгрузили в "The Death of Love", туда же отгрузили почти всю хитовость, хотя "The 13th Caesar" и "Tragic Kingdom" что-то пытаются из себя выжать в этом плане.

Как ни пытаюсь уловить что-то приятное в позднем творчества когда-то почитаемой формации, да и приятель не раз подначивал,
мол, зря забил, есть и новые, хорошие альбомы. Но после 2004 вообще сложно их воспринимать. Хотя, конечно,
Godspeed... далеко не худший вариант.
