Помню, в своё время, обложка данной пластинки вогнала меня просто в ступор (IMG:style_emoticons/default/crazy.gif)
Я никак не мог понять её смысл и связь с музыкой (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fear.gif)

Некоторые чуть ли не диссертации написАли, пытаясь связать и объяснить.

Лично для меня альбом получился, как минимум, двухслойным. При первых прослушиваниях, еще в далеком отрочестве, конечно же в первую очередь бросались в глаза (в уши?) Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven и When the Levee Breaks. Причем по разным причинам. И если с Лесенкой и Плотиной все и так понятно, то насчет остальных возникали вопросы. Например, почему - обращение к рок-н-роллу, стилю устаревшему и примитивному (Rock and Roll)? Или - как могут так (не синхронно) играть бас и ударные (Black Dog)?
Со временем акценты сместились в сторону фолковых и парящих The Battle of Evermore (поставить ее подряд с Stairway to Heaven мог только Пэйдж!), Going to California с обалденным гитарным сопровождением и лирикой.
Целиком согласен с THERION: Непокоримая вершина рок-музыки.
