После недавнего свежего и очень успешного альбома Nevermore 'The Obsidian Conspiracy' (2010), который мне захотелось назвать лучшим альбомом в дискографии великолепных вашингтонцев, я задался насущным вопросом - какой же альбом у Nevermore в действительности лучший? С целью выяснения данного вопроса решил переслушать все альбомы группы. И вот первый же альбом - дебютный, одноимённый названию коллектива, - говорит за то, что установить истину (какой же лучший!?) мне будет крайне трудно. Ибо уже первенец 95-го года не только чертовски хорош собой, но и близок к понятию "шедевр". Все знают, наверное, главные критерии успеха Nevermore - это безупречное чувство вкуса, потрясающая стильность исполнения выбранного ими направления (прогрессив-трэш), ну и феноменальный вокал лидера группы Уоррела Дэйна - этот голос по праву считают одним из лучших в металле вообще! Слушая 'Nevermore', приходится раз-за-разом удивляться, как и каким образом на ПЕРВОМ же своём лонгплэе ребята сумели предъявить миру такую гроссмейстерскую техническую оснащённость!? Изумляют и восхищают многие номера: топовая и безупречная C.B.F., шикарный распевный медляк The Sanity Assassin, шедевральная в плане вокала и соло The Hurting Words... Слабых вещей, вообще, просто нет, уровень чрезвычайно высок. Если добавить пару слов о вокале (а говорить о нём можно долго), то скажу, что по What Tomorrow Knows мне голос Уоррела своими интонациями чем-то напомнил самого 'Мессию' Марколина! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif) А вот в бонус-треках - в качестве бонуса к альбому добавлены треки из демо 'Utopia' - голос бессменного лидера-фронтмена группы ещё не окрепший и более высокий, любопытно послушать. Хотя тех-уровень самой игры даже на демке 92-го (какая древность!) весьма и весьма неплох - например, это заметно по Utopia. 9/10

P.S. "Стиль: Power Metal" - это явно какой-то дурак придумал. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif)

сильнейший альбом, особенно котирую открывашку и The Sanity Assassin (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) последняя наряду с The Heart Collector - лучшая баллада группы. А павер в стиле - ну, есть его какое-то количество. Они ж скорее павер/трэш играли в начале пути.

Вот это, кстати, и удивительно. Как бы можно было бы сказать, что это типа наследие Sanctuary в них говорит, да вот незадача - музон-то на сабже писал Лумис, а это человек свежий, Сэнкчури не испорченный.

Небось, Дэйн с Шеппардом стояли над ним с палкой и подзуживали "пиши, чтоб было как в нашей старой группе!". А Лумис потом в отместку так же делал, когда они 2014й Sanctuary пилили (потому что тот, наоборот, вышел в стиле Невемо) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/crazy.gif)
