Первоначальное впечатление - очень лекговесно даже по сравнением с предыдущим альбомом, но свое лицо группа не потеряла - их все ещё приятно слушать и расслушивать находя новые нюансы и плюшки. Во первых, не надо про Окерфельда. Все по своему пытаются вылезать из коротких штанишек. Опет уж слишком круто вырулил штурвал. И новый альбом, не смотря на то, что он больше похож на демонстрацию нового формата, все же при этом довольно хорош.
По Мастодону, музыка, конечно смягчилась, что меня лично радует, но старые моменты, которые мне никогда не нравились, остались. А именно - невыносимая атмосфера какой-то знойности, жары и потности напрягали так, что альбомы сложно было дослушать даже до середины, при всей их интересности в техническом и композиционном плане. Второй минус лично для меня - напряжный рев вокалиста, который, вкупе с вышеописанной атмосферой зноя заставлял раньше времени нажать на кнопку "стоп".

Был бы весь альбом выдержан в стилистике песни Spectrelight, было бы имхо вообще замечательно.

Все от психотипа слушателя зависит. Мне, например, больше фон расслабляющей тишины доставляет. Как, допустим, у Риверсайда. А палящая жара, наоборот напрягает.
