Несмотря на сильный трэшевый уклон, эта работа нравится мне меньше других.
И вокал Шелтона мне здесь не очень..
Но это не значит, что альбом плохой, отнюдь.

Предположу, что исторические события 1888 тебе известны (IMG:style_emoticons/default/25.gif)
Садишься, переводишь текст первой песни (лучше, конечно, заучиваешь наизусть), и закрыв глаза (опционально), вслушиваешься в вокал Шелтона и представляешь себе то, о чОм он поет - темные переулочки Лондона, звон колоколов, отблеск от фонарей на клинке ножа и далее по тексту. Имхо Марк не мог исполнить эту вещь лучше. При вдумчивом прослушивании можно получить колоссальное удовольствие. Моя без сомнения любимая композиция у группы (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif)

Да, трешевый харш у него получается не очень. Вернее тк-то нормально, но слушается не так впечатляюще как его чистый вокал.
Впрочем, каков приход - таков и поп. Музыка-то тут тоже крайне нехарактерная для Маниллы - какой-то техно-треш, напоминающий славную польскую бригаду Wolf Spider. Причем техно-треш очень высокого качества (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile4.gif)

Очень жаль, что Манилла больше не записывала альбомов в подобном стиле. Сам альбом, конечно, не идеален и порою откровенно "суховат", но, в отличие от большинства групп, делающих метал по мотивам хорроров, сабж - одни из немногих, кто смог идеально ухватить атмосферу произведений-инспираторов и преобразить её в музыку. Return of the Old Ones натурально пробирает до мурашек.

Не могу поставить десятку, но и скучную восьмерку ставить не хочу. Просто скажу, что очень люблю этот альбом, и все.
