Solace is a Heavy rock band hailing from the Jersey Shore, USA.

Formed in 1996 from the ashes of Atlantic Records artist Godspeed, Solace is best known in the Stoner Rock genre, but as guitarist and founding member Tommy Southard has said "We’re not a stoner band, we’re a Rock ’n’ Roll band - a hard rock band, a Metal band."[1] The comparison of their albums to those of Black Sabbath, Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss,[2] as well as their live performances at Stoner Rock festivals such as America's Emissions from the Monolith and Europe's Roadburn Festival, have rooted them deeply in this genre of Rock, however.

Ultra-heavy riffs are opening the reign of SOLACE. The US-boys have dedicated themselves to Doom and vocally they are following the same direction. The riffs are pretty obviously of the CATHEDRAL/BLACK SABBATH-vein, but what makes SOLACE differ are the fits of rage that can be found in almost every song.

Here the vocals remind me a little of Kory Clarke (WARRIOR SOUL). SOLACE are rocking the place and write accessible songs beyond the easy listening-stuff. That means that you cannot listen to such intense and original songs in the background! Could even be something for tolerant MONSTER MAGNET-fanatics. I guess that you can very well smoke some grass to this music, but I do NOT want to encourage anybody.

I rather drink a beer or two and listen to these Doom-steam-rollers "unstoned".

SOLACE - супер! Одна из любимейших банд в стоунер-думе.

Поначалу путал Solace с американцами и англичанами Solstice - но теперь путать не буду, Solace значительно лучше обоих этих групп. Великолепный размашистый стоунер - как говорят (и сомневаться в этом нет оснований), в лучших традициях Cathedral и Black Sabbath - серьёзный и продуманный, стильно риффовый, звучит основательно и безупречно. Основная масса композиций - от 7 до 9 минут. Хотя есть и небольшая акустическая распевная вещь Hungry Mother в 2.5 минуты, а завершает альбом мастодонт Heavy Birth/Two Fisted длиной 16 минут (!), где ребята отвязываются по-полной. Вообще, я бы сказал, стоунер - это дум для весёлых, или (ещё вариант) антифьюнерал. Не то, чтобы Solace играет на своём дебютном полноформатнике весёлую музыку - нет, но это музыка оживлённая, сочная, а если и серьёзная, то уж точно не грустная. Помимо упомянутых Cathedral и Black Sabbath также в отдельные моменты (не скажу, что часто) чувствуется влияние психоделии - например, в Whistle Pig, что заставило вспомнить ещё одних британцев - Korpse. Больше всего понравилась вещь Followed, несущая в себе всё то лучшее, что есть в стоунере, как стиле. Также очень хороши чуть более усложнённая Black Unholy Ground и эффектная Angel's Dreaming. Впрочем, я не вижу на альбоме ни одной недотягивающей вещи, ровно час времени идёт целиком качественный и отменный материал в лучших традициях стоунера. Кстати, моё ощущение, что играют отнюдь не новички, а опытные музыканты, полностью себя оправдало - оказывается, костяк Solace состоит из членов довольно известной в прошлом американской команды Godspeed. 9/10

Этот шедевр уже давно купил на лицензии CD-Maximum, крышу унесло сразу, с первых секунд прослушивания.
Тяжеленный звук гитары медленно давит как гигантская каменная глыба. Уже только от звучания получаешь мощный кайф, плюс улётная музыка.

Второй их альбом "13" тоже есть на лицензии, он слегка пошустрее, но тоже великолепен.
