Неплохо поменяли стиль, и по- моему, удачно... Last known line-up Patrick Schleitzer: Vocals (ex-Heaven Shall Burn) Martin: Drums Markus: Guitar/Vocals Sacki: Bass Astrid: Keyboards MOURNING ENDS have really developed on their third album „Different Ways” compared with the two predecessors. They still play Death Metal but go now into a more melodic direction a la SOILWORK or IN FLAMES. And exactly this correction wasn’t bad at all. Already the opener ”I Wait For The Shadows” can convince with its cool riffs and its partly melodic leads. On the following ”...Surpass The Gods”, it comes obvious, that MOURNING ENDS don’t let the melodies dominate, which I find quite good. So, all songs are well-balanced in terms of melody and heaviness. The same goes for the vocals of shouter Patrick. Sometimes he sings with a clear voice, sometimes he growls his heart out. It’s the mixture, making it interesting. Specially great songs after some spins are besides the opener, „Black Broadcastet Bombshell”, „Easy To Pray” and the killer „Virtual Deathblow”. But also the other tracks aren’t weaker in their quality, the whole record comes out like one mould. MOURNING ENDS can as well convince with the sound, which is thankfully not so polished as on some other releases of this genre. The guitars are crushing and the drums sound genuine. A strong performance if you think about the fact, that the band was self-responsible for the production. MOURNING ENDS reach higher leagues with ”Different Ways”. The band has matured, which is probably also reasoned by the changes in their line-up last year. The only thing, which is bad with ”Different Ways” is the short playing time. There could be really one or two great songs more, or not? Well, you can’t get everything. But all fans of melodic Death Metal sound should check out MOURNING ENDS. The guys are really good and outstanding without any provocation or any hype. Check out tips: all (Online March 30, 2004) /Взято с metal-observer.com/ Register

Viking Metal?
Viking Metal is not a music genre...in itself...at least for me... just cause some Death or MelDeath or Black bands try to put the "pagan" or "viking" thing on concept, the style remains the same...black metal or death or mel death metal tuning... nothing else ahah... so if I decide to do a Gaulish or a Celtiberian or a Etruscan or a Atlantean or a Hitite or a Sodomite or Saxon or Normand or (...) do i basically get Gaulish Metal? Celtiberian Metal? Etruscan Metal? etcetcetc So, Enslaved for ex. its musical black metal with a viking-concept same goes for the melodic death of Amon Amarth same goes for whoever, including the ones that mix it with folk or polka, or whatever...its Melodic Death or Black Metal at most, musically |
