У меня уже был ранее опыт знакомства с музыкой шведского ансамбля Suma - надо признать, опыт крайне неудачный. Дело было так: послушал я как-то сплит Suma & Pyramido (2010), после которого дал себе установку никогда больше эту хрень не слушать (шведы там выдали экспериментальную депрессивную шизу одним треком на 16 минут). Однако, как известно, "от тюрьмы, да от Sum'ы не зарекайся", и решил я дать этой странной команде ещё один шанс в отношении себя, как слушателя. В общем-то, не прогадал - данный альбом от того унылого сплита отделяют 4 года, и музыка здесь существенно отличается от той. Suma, действительно, играет настоящий стоунер/дум - без всяких примесей и без перекосов в стоунер, или в дум. Но есть у них своя фирменная фишка, свой конёк: эти ребята в каждой отдельной композиции берут один риф, и настойчиво-кропотливо наворачивают этот единственный риф - "туда-сюда-обратно, тебе и мне приятно", - видимо, лишь бы только не свернуть куда-нибудь в сторону, на другой риф. (Мол, кто свернёт - тот лишается поездки в Стокгольм! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif) ) И ведь удаётся им это дело! По крайней мере, в большинстве треков, за исключением последнего, всё именно так - музыканты обходятся однорифовым творчеством (своего рода минимализм), получая на выходе, как ни странно, на удивление недурственный стоунер/дум. Очень неплохо выглядит, например, вещь I Am The Spritual Shepherd: всякие женско-мужские переговоры под фоновые гитарные переборы длятся аж целые 3 минуты, но после призывного боя ударных вдруг происходит клёвый и энергичный взрыв гитарного рифажа. Другой случай: на Al Quinnab Al Hindi шведы старательно создают атмосферу, и это вполне удаётся - из этакого зашумления выплывает далёкая мелодия и постепенно захватывает пространство. Про вокалы можно сказать так: они кричащие, не распевные, но при этом несколько задвинуты на задний ряд, за стену инструментального звука, и особо не высовываются, что представляется мне правильным ходом. Не понравилась только одна композиция - та самая последняя 17-минутная ...Seems You've Developed An Acid Tongue, не типичная для остальной части альбома. Она представляет собой ту самую "дурь", из-за которой я и опасался качать Суму - назовём её условно "экспериментальный эмбиент" - монотонное накручивание однообразных звуков, правда, ещё не самый худший образчик подобного. В общем, неплохой стоунер/дум с подобающей жанру атмосферой, хотя где-то и однообразный. 8/10
