Excellent stuff man. This is "real" 100% folk music from a country with wonderfull musical heritage.

KAZACHY KROUG (Cossack Circle)
Cossack song possesses some special beauty, power and mystery, which is able to stir your sole, but to change your entire life as well. Listening to the old voices of ”knights of the steppe” you suddenly realize, that even if you are not making out particular words, there comes clear and overwhelming understanding of the whole thing. This is a message, addressed straight to you, through the times and spaces. This powerful impression, experienced by each of this group of (then) young men, has gathered and braced them to one circle. The name Kazachy Kroug (literally Cossack Circle) means one of the oldest forms of peoples democracy. It is an old kossack habit to take decisions standing in a circle and speaking straight and freely (reminds The Round Table, isn’t it?). The circle also is a common formation for singing songs. Now Kazachy Kroug sings songs of Don, Kuban, Terek, Sibiria cossacks for 20 years already. Trying to keep most closely to the local traditional styles, the group has nevertheless worked out it’s own distinct style. Careful treatment of the traditional song is a mark of Kazachy Kroug. |
