The band never actually split-up during the 1990s. Marco Pappe kept the group alive, albeit with an extremely unstable lineup, which led to scarce live performances and no recordings. Protector were still "active" until at least 2003.
Martin Missy moved to Sweden and founded together with some Suicidal Winds members the band "The Protectors" playing old Protector songs (even songs after 1989).
Martin Missy founded the cover band "Martin Missy and the Protectors" in Sweden in 2006. They have been playing old Protector songs since then (also songs after 1989).
Sepulchral Voice (Sodom cover) featuring on In The Sign Of Sodom - Sodomaniac Tribute (2008).
In August 2011 the members of The Protectors recorded a 4-track-rehearsal which they released on the 8th of October 2011 under the name Protector. This date marked the rebirth of Protector.
