Extended info
A great demo with a salute to satanic warmaster, drowning the light, horna etc. This is a great first effort from British raw black metal ensemble Obscure Lupine Quietus. The material within is raw & convincing, tho the drums appear to be programmed they don't take any of the feeling away from the demo. The guitars are under a thick layer of reverb tho still audible & the riffing at points is just superb, reminding me strongly of 'Kuoleva Lupaus' by horna & such. The bass is barely audible tho it does punch through at a couple of points during the demo. The vocals here are tortured & varied, constantly sounding desperate. They seem to be powered by the band's vampyric theme & fit very well creating an atmosphere close to the demos of the early 90's.
Worth a listen for fans of the raw side of black metal!
