At this point, the most interesting post-metal records are being made by bands that combine the style with something else, like Oathbreaker’s blackened take on the genre, or the atmospheric sludge/post-metal/electronica hybrid...Norway’s Timeworn also go the atmospheric sludge route on their sophomore full-length Venomous High, with some very enjoyable results. A mix of riffs, dissonance and melody coupled with lyrical themes ranging from Lovecraft to Buckaroo Banzai stirred together in one big cauldron of heavy goodness.
