VEIA was my very first music project. Started in 2011 as a tribute to Etruscans, an ancient civilization which inhabited the area where I grew up, I only managed to release a short split album back in 2012 with Sortilegus, an unknown black metal one man band from Italy. In the same period, I started composing tracks for a future album that never saw the light.
After a long series of vicissitudes, I reformed VEIA with the precious help of G.D. (Thecodontion, Deathvoid, etc) and the guys from Svart Vinter and Veil of Conspiracy. In 2024 we finally started recording the VEIA album, which will be titled "Vacal" (an obscure word that probably meant "rite" or "ritual" in Etruscan). Recording sessions will be completed during 2025.
In the meantime, I decided to publish two raw excerpts from "Vacal". These songs (titled "Tuchulcha" and "Il ritorno di Tuchulcha") focus on the figure of Tuchulcha, a demon from the underworld in Etruscan mythology. In particular, the track "Il ritorno di Tuchulcha" is inspired by "L'Etrusco uccide ancora" (English: "The Etruscan Kills Again"), a cult B-movie from 1972 by director Armando Crispino.
Music-wise, VEIA is mostly inspired by the glorious days of the early Scandinavian black metal scene. However, the material is also partly influenced by 90s Greek black metal, with some twisted bass lines. The promo is entirely sung in Italian and it's limited to 30 hand-numbered copies on white pro-duplicated cassette.
