1774 is a Dutch electronic dark ambient project with 2 members. The initial idea for forming this project started after reading 'Die Leiden des jungen Werthers' from J.W. Goethe, and the atmospheres and titles from the first tracks are inspired on this book.

Despite Dutch being the primary language of the members, all titles are in German, since this was the language of Goethe. In time, 1774 shall also create tracks inspired on other subjects, not only on Goethe's masterpiece.
