Biography:
- The First Steps -
The project URNA was born at the end of 2003 by the will of RM and MZ. The main goal was to record some tracks previously created for the musicians first band. When the self-financed "Justa Funebria" came out in 2004, the band sound was still raw and harsh. The black metal patterns of the pre-Urna and the influences coming from inspiring acts such as Tronus Abyss and Void Of Silence created the field for the band's future sound. "Justa Funebria" is a mix of both the black metal imprint and the electro experimentation and it ends with "Incipit Modesta Vita", a colossal track in over 23 minutes of electro-ambient.
- Doom and Gloom -
After a few months the band's sound was already changing and evolving. The first album's black metal attitude was fading and melted with some new doom influences. Under these circumstances the band has recorded its second work "Mors Imperatrix Mundi" EP. The EP has seen the collaboration of Zin (Malvento) as bass player covering the black metal classic "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" (MayheM).
- "Sepulcrum" Era -
During 2004 Urna and ATMF have signed a contract for the next two albums. After a few months, the band has become a duo. MZ started the new tracks creation while RM was working on some ambient projects. Under the darkest influences of bands such Thergoton and Skepticism, "Sepulcrum" came out slowing down the band sound and reproposing two tracks from the "Mors Imperatrix Mundi" EP. This album has seen "Ego Sum" as Urna's last track with evident black metal roots, leaving black metal influences under the Locus Mortis flag.
- The Journey Towards the Light -
During the following years MZ and RM have started working on their other projects. Arcana Colestia and Locus Mortis have become the purest form of Urna' influences. With Arcana Coelestia the doom side became more melodic and elegiac while with Locus Mortis the black metal side became faster and more violent. "Ubi Secreta Colunt" by Arcana Coelestia has been a little gem in the funeral doom underground (later dethroned by the band's second full lenght album "Le Mirage De L'Ideal") and "Voust" by Locus Mortis was one of the hot black metal albums of 2007. In 2008 MZ and RM got back on Urna delivering the band's best album to date. "Iter Ad Lucem" was published on CD format by ATMF and Vinyl LP by I, Voidhanger during 2009. The collaboration of Eidvlon pushed the band to multiple experimental territories. The sound became the perfect mix of violence and darkness incorporating black metal, avantgarde, funeral doom and electronic landscapes.
- The New Dawn -
A few years has passed again. MZ and RM are now living in different countries but still the Urna creature is breathing and waiting to come back. In 2010 with the idea of republishing the second EP the duo has started recording an inedit track titled "Fui, Sum, Ero". The second print never came out and "Fui, Sum, Ero" never saw the light until today. The project is alive and creating some new tracks for the forthcoming new album titled "Mors Principium Est".
