I used to read that in magazines and books in the 1980s / 1990s.
Supposedly Ian Gillan wanted to do more Deep Purple songs than only Smoke On The Water.

А вообще, год 1983 - один из лучших у группы. Живые концерты с Яном - были интересны и по своему уникальны, как и все бутлеги с другими вокалистами, кроме Оззи. И нет, это не шпилька в сторону Оза, скорее радость от того, что каноничные хиты БС 70-х можно услышать и в исполнении Дио и Гиллана и Рея Гиллена и Тони Мартина...
