Since I am new, I am still trying to understand the culture here. My question is why is 320 mp3 so popular and not lossless? MP3s are compressed, lossy audio and is the format available on most streaming services. The advantage of having music on your hard drive is that you can listen to lossless, un-compressed audio. Maybe I am looking at the wrong sections of the site, but most posts are albums in 320 mp3. Could someone provide me an answer as to why this is that case. Thanks.

Because difference is almost inaudible (I'm not talking about audiophile deviations)
and the size of MB is significant

The difference is obvious, but basically 320 is enough for familiarization.

But equipment you use to listen to music is also very important,
most people do not have expensive players with gold cables
and therefore difference in practice/for ears, is almost inaudible,almost.

To hear the difference, entry-level equipment or $200 headphones are enough. (This is purely my example.)
Basically, this difference is clearly visible on percussion.

This is our forum attempt for the musicians to get a chance that their releases could be bought by ppl who want to hear not compressed, lossy audio. So they will be able to buy smth to eat.

(but my own the only wish is that everybody must to stop to create the music, so that I have lifetime to listen the WHOLE Thrash Metal releases of the history)

The scheme is simple, you download the album in MP3 for reviewing it, then if you like it, you buy a CD (or whatever), and if not, you just delete it. We are here not for piracy or illegal something, you know!

Those services provide only poor 128 kbit for free.

Also, contrary to popular "audiophile" claims, there are basically NO benefits from using lossless as far as music playback quality is concerned, while file size difference is huge.
