I'm not sure, I registered my account there a long time ago. But I think activation is not required

registration on nmn.ru

On main page click "Регистрация" - Registration.

Then, when open page of registration, tape:
"Ваш логин" - Your login
"Ваш EMail" - Your email
"Ваш пароль:" - Your password
"Повторите пароль:" - Your password again
and symbols that you see.

"с правилами согласен" - Do you accept the rules? - mark it

Then, push "зарегистрироваться" - registrate

Browser: "Поздравляем, ваши данные приняты. На указанный email выслан код активации. если вы не активируетесь до 00:00 завтрашнего дня, то ваш аккаунт будет удален" - Greetings, your data are accepted. On your mail there will send the activation code. If you don't activate till 00:00 tomorrow day, your account will be deleted.

When you have got the mail, click the link and go to www.nnm.ru

There type your login ("Введите логин") and below - the password, then push "вкл.".

It's either nnm that's screwing up, or your email provider. Try registering again, but using a different email provider (e.g. gmail or hotmail)
