Originally named Bleak December, but changed their name to "Winds of Plague" in April, 2005, getting their name from lyrics in Unearth's song "Endless", from their 2002 EP, Endless.
Nick Eash began playing bass in the band in 2002, but then switched to guitar in 2003.
