Fall '09 Update
I realize its been quite some time since anything has been said from the Dark Empire camp. In a nutshell here is what is going on:
- we are still looking for both a singer and a drummer
- we will without a doubt commence production on the next album in 2010. With session musicians if need be if the previously mentioned singer/drummer slots are still unavailable.
- it will more likely than not, be self-released again like Distant Tides. We are discussing the format as well. Its painfully obvious that CDs are on their way out, while vinyl is making a small comeback in the collectors market. One idea we are kicking around is to do just a digital-only release combined with a *very* small run vinyl pressing for anyone who wants to own a hard copy. We'd love to know what you think of this idea.
In related news, as many of you might know, I keep myself fairly busy as an in-demand guitar teacher. I have done a small handful of guest columns on some guitar websites and am looking into others as well. More details on that will follow when ready.
I've also branched out into online webcam based guitar lessons. After both receiving cam lessons and giving them, I find there to be very little lost from not being in the same room as the other person, surprisingly. I have over 6 years of teaching experience from beginners to very advanced and can instruct on a wide range of topics including:
- chord theory (how chords are built, voice leading, diatonic and non-diatonic progressions etc)
- scale theory (diatonic and non-diatonic, pentatonics, major modes, melodic and harmonic minor modes, diminished and whole tone scales, etc)
- modern rock/metal lead techniques (alternate and sweep picking, legato, tapping, etc)
- improvisation
- songwriting and arranging

Из всего вышенаписанного я понял, что они по по-прежнему ищут вокалиста и барабанщика, что замышляют новый альбом на 2010 год (это радует), а также что Мэтт подрабатывает уроками игры на гитаре (в т.ч. через вэб камеру) и предлагает всем у него поучиться за деняжку. Ещё он предлагает прочесть обзор их альбома на каком-то незнакомом мне сайте и призывает оставаться с ними (скажем так..)
Кто может перевести подробнее, плыз закиньте в тему)
Эх, радует, что есть хоть какие-то новости... Жду альбома.=)

А еще у них есть идея издать новый альбом только в цифровом формате (не издавать СД),
