Following up on the 2022 Demo, Vile Light returns to offer up their second assault. The Black Dawn takes their established blueprint and recasts it in a bleaker, blackened, more violent conception.
The grinding chaos of songs “Pain Penance Death” and “Bled of All Hope” pay homage to Canadian War Metal masters, while incorporating the barbarity of USBM legends Black Witchery and Profanatica. Built upon that same infernal foundation, “Shadow of Sorrow” begins as a foggy blackened screed, before descending into a frenzied climax of blast beats and feverish Slayer-esque leads. “The Lie,” like a hammer blow to the skull, utilizes the raw intensity of Nails, reminding us that in war, simplicity is often the best weapon. Despite pulling influences across many genre’s, Vile Light’s end goal remains: sonic barbarism.
The Black Dawn is 12 minutes of razor-sharp nuclear fury aimed straight at the feeble heart of man.
