Классный альбом,он понравился не сразу-взяло время привыкнуть.
В каком-то интервью Стрембланд признался,что он так и не смог стать профи в драммерском деле,однако я считаю,что сыграл он отменно.было даже очень интересно послушать его игру на барабанах.
Альбом я бы охарактеризоваал,как сырой яростный необузданный дэт метал с первыми попытками Станне на вокале,а эти гитарные вставки из шведсконародного фольклкора-вообще отпад!имхо! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/9.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/9.gif)

Дебютник In Flames кажется наиболее оригинально звучащим из всех альбомов группы - наименее выхолощенным и подогнанным под какие-то принятые стандарты. Непривычное сухое звучание гитар и характерная гётеборгская небрежность. И всё это удивительно гармонирует с струящимися тонкой витиеватой нитью соляками* и инструментальными акустическими партиями (акустическая гитарка от основного композитора группы Jesper Stromblad , плюс скрипка и альт в руках Ylva Yahlstedt, звучащей затем в альбоме At the Gates 'Terminal Spirit Disease' ). Имеют место не cовсем привычные для группы фолковые гармонии.

Ну и, естественно, в данном случае происходит некоторое разделение взглядов. Кому-то ближе In Flames в таком вот оригинальном виде - тяготеющий к более тяжёлому, неошлифованному звучанию (и апогеем тут является 'Upon an Oaken Throne'), а кому-то более умеренный, модерновый и предсказуемый.

*особенно радуют соляки в композициях 'Behind Space', 'Starforsaken' и 'In Flames' (начальное соло от гостевого участника альбома Anders Iwers, присутствующего на треках 8 и 9, c запоминающейся акцентирующей финальной ноткой - "уиу").
