In the beginning, Thou Shalt Suffer was a full band that played death metal. In 1992 the band split-up due to 2 ex-members (Samoth and Ihsahn) went to form Emperor.
The latest album, released as Ihsahn's solo project, is neoclassical/ambient music (it was also the final release of this project).
